About Nigel

I’ve had an eclectic career; beginning with fisheries ecology in Ulster, moving on to teaching in Botswana, conservation in Devon and Wiltshire, back to fisheries research for the NZ Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and NIWA,  followed by stints as safety consultant in NZ and the Pacific, science editor and writer in Japan, and as an intelligence analyst for the Waikato District of the New Zealand Police (WPD).

In 2015, FCMS and WPD decided to develop a collaborative research and student scholarship programme. One thing has led to another; my present role is to support the development of the New Zealand Institute of Security and Crime Science, and assist and support research projects across different  disciplines.
